The need to measure densities, slurries, and mass flow is extremely important to a dredge owner.  Ronan's non-contact density sensor, in conjunction with a non-contact flow meter, will provide measurements of continuous and totalized mass of solids suspended in liquids.  It can provide the density range for density-compensated mass flow measurements.

FGD SLURRY DENSITY MEASUREMENT

Application
A by-product of the burning of pulverized coal in electric power plants is sulfur dioxide (SO2) gas.  To comply with the 1990 Clean Air Act, many plants have installed wet scrubber Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) systems to reduce their SO2 emissions.  Due to its low-cost and availability, limestone is the most extensively used reagent.  The limestone slurry reacts with the flue gas in the absorber, removing the SO2.  The limestone in the slurry is converted into calcium sulfite, air is then introduced and oxidizes the sulfite into calcium sulfate which is then filtered and dewatered.  This waste material is then either disposed of in ponds, landfills or sold as ingredients in the manufacturing of gypsum wallboard, cement or used as a fertilizer additive.

8 Starter Steps for Buying an Annunciator

Buying an alarm annunciator can be a daunting task without a roadmap. This 8-step list should give you a simple start to get your research going in the right direction.

    1. Figure out if your alarm system is required to have its own logic or will act as a mimic display (no logic) that is driven from an external source. If you're looking for the latter, then direct your search to a "lamp box" or "LED cabinet."  If logic is required (meaning your operators response is dictated by a programmed logic sequence), read on - you're in the right place.
